St. John's 120th Anniversary Celebration

During the weekend of September 08-10, the parish celebrated their 120th Anniversary.  His Grace Bishop Gregory was present for the festivities the entire weekend.

On Friday Evening the Miraculous Myrrh-Streaming Icon of the Kardiotissa (Taylor, PA) was present for an uplifting and comforting service.

On Saturday morning, a Divine Liturgy was held in memory of the founders, builders and benefactors of the parish.  During that time, the entire list of church diptychs were recited during the Liturgy and a candle was lit for every family name recorded.  Later that evening, a Deanery Vespers service was held with faithful and friends gathered for prayer.  An elegant wine tasting reception was held afterwards in the church hall.

Sunday morning the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Grace Bishop Gregory.  The service was preceeded by the consecration of new iconography in the rear of the church and of the two new deacon's doors.  Reader Andrew Wythe was ordained to the Su-diaconate.  His Grace was assisted by Fr. Michael Chendorain, Protopresbyter Robert Rebeck (Allentown, PA) a son of St. John's parish, Protodeacon Greogry Benc and the parish altarboys.  Responses were led by Choir Director George Hanas who was honored with a Gramota and conferring of the title "Professor" by His Grace for his many years of dedicated service.  A beautiful reception was held at a local banquet facility where the Mayor of Perth Amboy, Wilda Diaz, presented St. John's with a MAyoral Proclamation.
